Paepae in the Park with Three Houses Down

February 6, 2015 - Patea, New Zealand

 

Waitangi Day saw the sun shining brightly and Mt Taranaki standing proudly as the NLC Crew travelled back to Whanganui via the little settlement of Patea where Paepae in Park saw the Patea Maori Club, NLC and Three Houses Down grace the atamira (stage).

 

An amazing and well patronised event.  Thank you Patea for this opportunity.

The first time for NLC at the Mayfair in New Plymouth and what a night!!!  Soulovus opening the night and getting the home crowd pumping; NLC able to bask in that glory and holding their own as their weaved their musical majic with a set of original songs.

 

A huge shout out to Soulovus who hosted the NLC Crew at their whare for the night.

Road trip back to Tauranga

Back to where it started for NLC, twelve months on and back on a stage again in Tauranga.  Proud to be on the the same stage as legandary ArdiJar and Three Houses Down and hosted by New Zealand's (and Tauranga's) own Stan Walker.  What a privilege, NLC is humbled by this massive honour.

The release of NLC's single, 'Hold on' has caused social media spikes in views, likes and downloads.  The soulful lyrics supported by Shayes youthful harmonies has set a new level of excellence for NLC.

New Plymouth base band Soulovus is touring the North Island of New Zealand before the spread their wings to share their love of music with their Australian fan base.

 

It has been an honour and pleasure for NLC to support the brothers at two of their venues...

The Trees Tavern openned their arms to Native Sons NZ, DJ Brown and NLC as they supported Soulovus on their "All The Things Tour 2013".  

 

A double header so then saw Soulovus, DJ Brown and NLC head to Taumaranui to entertain the patrons of Manunui Club.

NLC submits songs to Maori Waiata Awards

July, 2013 - Whanganui, New Zealand

 

The 2013 Maori Waiata Awards will be hosted in Hasting at the Opera House on Friday 13 September celebrating New Zealand's Maori Music BUT with a difference: NLC has summited four original songs in the categories of Best Song by a Maori Artist and Best Maori Song Writer.  Last years winners in these categories were Ria Hall and Awa.

 

NLC's - 'stand up' has been submitted for Best Song by a Maori Artist and original pieces - 'true luv', 'i want cry' and 'another chance' are under the judges reviews for Best Maori Song Writer.

Double-header weekend: Whanganui Muisc Club & City College

July 5 & 6, 2013 - Whanganui, New Zealand

The weekend of Friday the 5th and Saturday 6th of July saw NLC play their 'thank you gig' at the Whanganui Music Club and to play the opening set at Whanganui City College Ball.

 

The Muso Club celebrated Puanga (Maori New Year) on Friday 5 July with 10 music sets culminating witha high energy, light and enjoyable 30 minute set by NLC.  This set was to say thanx to the Whanganui Music Club for the use of their sound rig at the Awa Uprising Party and to NLC's Sound Tech - Dave Muso, for the work he has done for the band.  Again - THANK YOU WHANGANUI MUSIC CLUB!!!

 

Saturday night, NLC had the pleasure to play the openning set for the Whanganui City College Ball.  Congratulations to the Ball organisors for a spectacular setting, shout out to the students of City College Senior Year, you guys looked stunning and to City College Administration Principal Peter Kaua and Ball Coordinator Tarsh Hapi - NLC says thanx for this wornderful opportunity to allow us to share our music with you students and school community. BOOM!!!

The morning started early with blessings and cellutations followed by a day of celebrations including  songs , recitals, commemorative speechs and group preformances.

 

NLC was blessed to be amongst the group of performancers helping with the birthday celebration.

NLC releases weekend goes off

March 27, 2013 - Whanganui, New Zealand

We sit around looking at each other wit huge smiles on our faces - what a massive weekend, we are so blessed.

 

The Party started at 9pm with live and DJ'ed music on two stages, weaved together by mcMeka, through to the early hours.  On stage from Auckland acclaimed reggae band Tribal ConnexioNZ, MaJic Paora and local groups the Wicca Bees and Harmony Showdown.  Again we are blessed...

 

9.00pm - BOOM!!! - Harmony Showdown ~ 9.45pm - BAM!! - Wicca Bess ~ 10.20pm KABOOM!! - MaJic ~ 11pm - KABAM!! - Tribal ConnexioNZ ~ Midnight - BOOM-BAM!! - NLC in da house.

 

 

The crowd built to capacity in the Centre stage - mcMeka worked his magic and with his two and half minute tauparapara intro for NLC, the crowd where out of their skins - BOOM - sound lights action!!!

 

The shouts of more, More, MOre, MORe, MORE erupted around the stage as NLC finished their set with our Single Release "Another Chance" and "True luv".

 

mcMeka again had the crowd going wild calling for another song. NLC grooved into a cover tac "Picture on the Wall" with mcMeka re-intruding the guest bands back onto the stage - Harmony in da house, Wicca bees in the house, TC in the house - was the call from the crowd.

 

Encore was again called and this time bruva Antz from Tribal ConnexioNZ starting the song "96 degrees" sharing the mike with Baz.

 

At 1.07am this lights dropped, the sound killed, the noise and frenzy of the crowd continued. The heat, the sweat, the noise subsided - Awa Uprising complete - blessed

NLC releases NEW single

March 27, 2013 - Whanganui, New Zealand


Saturday 18 May see's the dropping of NLC's latest single.  A Celebration  Party will be hosted by the Crew with special guest appearances by Tribal Conexionz, MaJic, the Wicca Bees & Harmony Showdown.



The party is being hosted at Stellar Bar in the City of the Awa with the party starting at 9pm.  Kamaka Manuels will MC the party, officiating over 2 x stages, 5 x bands and 1 x DJ.  Door charge - $10 entry.



The day of media obligations, sightseeing and sound checking will precede the party with radio interviews at AwaFM with bruva Kahurangi on the Sunday. Come join us!!!  See you there!!!

Pakaitore goes off

NLC was privileged to perform along side L40, MaJasty and House of Shem BUT more so, to support the 1995 Occupation of Pakaitore Commemorations and Celebrations.  

The vib at Pakaitore was vibrant and exhilarating after a full days programme organised by Raukotahi Whanganui, the day consisting of karakia, kohanga reo and kura  parades and performances; supported by kai stalls and the evening performances in which NLC represented.



NLC sends aroha and thanx to Zane Graham for your suport and the organising committee for the opportunity to be a part of the celebrations and to be able to share our music alongside New Zealand music greats. Blessed!!

NLC special guests at DarkyRoots gig

February 7, 2013 - San Francisco Bath House Wellington New Zealand

 

NLC had the privilege to represent on stage with Brisbane Australia based reggae band Darky Roots.  Also appearing at the same gig was Ratana Pa's, Whanganui NZ rising  reggae band L40 and Wellington NZ based solo artist Israel Starr.



The Bath House's energetic and enthusiastic crowd saw NLC lead the night off with their smooth, unique original sounds playing a set of original compositions and a couple of well rehearsed and well know covers.



NLC sends a huge shout out to its loyal fans who travelled to Wellington to support the gig.

NLC supports Ratana Pa celebrations

January 25, 2013 - Ratana Pa Whanganui New Zealand

 

Early on Friday the 25 January, the birthday of TW Ratana, NLC took the stage to a small but enthusiastic crowd to start the Prophets birthday in fine form with a well rehearsed set of original compositions including their rapidly rising viewed YouTube releases - "Stand up" and "I Want Cry" and ending their set with the old reggae tune "Picture on the Wall" and the crowd singing, dancing with gusto and passion.



Baz Muir, song writer, guitarist and group originator says ... "To be able to bring our music to the Pa is an honour and privilege .  We are blessed."

NLC lead off Exodus pre-party

December 30, 2012 - Brewers Bar, Tauranga New Zealand

 

Some of New Zealand hottest rising reggae bands kicked off Exodus with a Pre-Party at the Brewers Bar in Tauranga New Zealand.  NLC was blessed to perform along side reggae shakers and movers on the New Zealand reggae scene including New Plymouth NZ based band - Soulovus, Auckland band-  Unknown Peace, Christchurch band - 1 Drop Nation and again the reggae brothers from Ratana Pa Whanganui NZ - L40.
